In anticipation of Hurricane Gustav making landfall on Labor Day, ACIA National President David Karina has notified the California Governors Office of Emergency Services that ACIA is ready to access its data base of SAP certified evaluators to assemble volunteers that would assist with performing safety assessments of dwellings and structures that are expected to sustain damage by Hurricane Gustav.

ACIA is one of the five partnering organizations with OES that certifies Safety Assessment Program evaluators under CA OES guidelines. ACIA has instructed 10 SAP evaluator certification classes in 2008 that have added over 200 certified SAP evaluators to the OES data base.
