|Governor Appoints New California State Architect|
|Written by Dennis Dooley, 2011 National President|
Governor Jerry Brown announced today that Chester A. Widom, FAIA, has been appointed to the position of California State Architect.
Mr. Widom has been President of both the National American Institute Of Architects (AIA) and the AIA California Council (AIACC), and is now Chancellor of the College of Fellows.
With nearly fifty years as a practicing architect, Mr. Widom has extensive experience in the design of a wide range of educational projects. He was a founding partner of WWCOT (now DLR Group). He currently serves as the Senior Architectural Advisor for the Los Angeles Community College District's $6.1 billion construction program.
We hope Mr. Widom’s varied experience will also play a key role in the reviving of the State Architect's responsibility as an advocate for design in general and specifically for creating a more sustainable California.
On behalf of the ACIA 'S Membership, congratulations on your appointment as California State Architect.
