The Sr. Construction Inspector will perform duties of Inspector of Record as defined in the California Code of Regulations, Title 24, for the construction of various health care facilities. Perform other duties related to the design and construction of facilities.
Essential Job Duties:
Performs the code required duties of the OSHPD approved Inspector of record.
Performs the duties of Owner’s Construction Inspector for non OSHPD permitted projects
Monitors and inspects work in progress to ensure quality and compliance with plans, specifications, regulatory codes and works with the project management team to maintain the overall budget and schedule
Assures that communication between all Project Team members is timely and complete
Solicits and review bids and proposals from geotechnical firms and material testing labs for completeness and adherence to contractual specifications.
Recommends to management, the “best value” firm to use on a particular job based on results of proposals
Responsible for developing, with the department representative, architect and contractor, the project quality requirements
Assist with the functional and technical review of plans and specifications prepared by the consulting architect with Facilities Engineering, and all other affected departments
Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Eight (8) years of experience in the construction and/or inspection of Health care facilities with at least six (6) years as an OSHPD approved Inspector Of Record.
AA in Construction Inspection Technology, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, Health Care Administration or equivalent experience is required. Current OSHPD Class A Hospital Inspector Certificate required.
· Hospital and clinic design, construction and inspection processes, building codes materials testing, cost reporting, construction nomenclature, construction document and cost estimating
· Construction quality control principles and practices with the ability to evaluate deficiencies and find solutions by interpreting code and functional requirements
· Construction Safety requirements
· Utilizes management tools, such as Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Prolog, PowerPoint, etc. and knowledge on how to use them for analysis, planning, decision-making, presentation and communication is required
· Ability to work effectively with management, staff, contract personnel and vendors required
· Ability to communicate clearly, concisely and accurately with people verbally and in writing to achieve results for the organization
· Skilled at conducting presentations and leading meetings when required
· Ability to develop, propose and manage project inspection and testing budgets
. Practice good time management and to multitask is required
· Communicate technical issues to nontechnical users/clients is required
